Davie Stadium Round Robin Tennis 2012 We Play Tennis To Inspire – May 6, 2012 at the Davie Stadium Tennis Courts
There were many hard-fought rounds of tennis, some heavy lifting of beverage boxes, and much savoring of macaroons and lemon bars … … and then came the ultimate challenge – a ping pong duel between two long-standing rivals: Kendall G. vs. Karen B. … At the conclusion of the afternoon, the Christine A Geehrer Inspiration in Medicine Award Round Robin Tennis Event raised a resounding successful amount of over $5,000 in a single day… … and Kendall and Karen called a truce, a tie score in two dramatic, nail-biting sets. This is the most amount of funds we have generated in a 3-hour span for a single event. And I can’t help think that a bit of adrenaline and competition made for a rush of generosity! There were many supporters who had not played tennis in 25 years, but cautiously picked up a racket and fought bravely for a win. Those who provided the coveted wares for the silent auction and for our baked goods table. Those who volunteered to be tennis ball and ping ping ball fetchers, over and over again! And those who persuasively discussed the qualities of several candidates who were displayed on a poster board for all to preview.. This early benchmark of funds for our 2nd year of raising monies for the CAGIM scholarship is incredibly inspiring. I want to thank all of my family, the Geehrer Family and our friends who helped make this event possible, and a special thank you for the faith and support of our donors.
